for cultural events linked to Provence, Renaissance and
gardening Arts...
Musicians, Historians, Botanists,
Writers and Artists gather on a subject and offer to the
participants an global and original point of view on their
specialities.
In 2000, the Association Hortus
was created to allow and sponsor these cultural happenings.

HEURES DU JARDIN DE L'ALCHIMISTE
'THE RICH HOURS'
OF THE GARDEN OF THE ALCHIMIST |

Thus, this is the third year that
the Association Hortus organizes "Les Riches
Heures du Jardin de l'Alchimiste". This event will
occur this year on Sunday, June 1st 2003, in the Jardin
of the Alchimist. The subject choosen is The
History of the mediterranean countryside. Pierre
Lieutaghi (who will make a speach on plants,
main witnesses of the changes in the mediterranean countryside),
Irène Magaudeix (the influence of flowers on the
names of places in Provence), Claude Siméon (Association
Flowers and Life), Marie de Larouzière (President
of the conference) and Florence Jullion (Herborist)
will be the main lecturers.

| LES RICHES HEURES 2001 & 2002 |

In 2001, Hortus has organized during
"Les Riches Heures du Jardin de l'Alchimiste"
the 1st conference on plants in the mediterranean
countyside during the middle age. The main lecturers
were : Viviane Huchard (Cluny museum - Paris) ; Marie-Thérèse
Gousset, Middle age specialist (Bibliothèque Nationale
- Paris); Pierre Lieutaghi, writer and ethno-botanist ;
Pascale Bourgain, teacher (Ecole des Chartes); Florence
Jullion, (lecturer for the garden); Arnaud Maurières
et Eric Ossart, designers of the garden ; Alain (Hortus
Association president) and Marie de Larouziere, (both owners
and developers and keepers of the garden).

During the whole season of opening
of the garden, a program
of events occurs. This year,
